Everyone said that I would grow up tall, but I had no clue what they meant at all.
Now here I am, standing twelve foot three—looking down at you, looking up at me!
Adults just want to take my photograph. The kids say, “Please give me your autograph.”
And here’s what I say whenever they ask, “What’s it like to be a giraffe?”

I tell ’em it’s —
Totally extraordinarily, and essentially quite impressively,
Incomparably and primarily, indescribably cool!

Jacaranda and acacia buds—are so delicious when I chew my cud!
At feeding time, when Stanley brings ‘em by—I sure surprise him when I wink my eye!
Kids come to visit for a day of school, to say to the animals, “How do you do?”
And, “Hey, T.C., what is it like for you—that your friends all live in a zoo?”

I tell ’em it’s —
Totally extraordinarily, and essentially quite impressively,
Incomparably and primarily, indescribably cool!

(He’s so Cool!) Oh, it’s really nothing! (Cool!) Well, maybe just this one thing!
(Cool!) Everybody knows that it’s true — (Cool!) Giraffes are Totally Cool!

If you’d like to be as cool as me—just be yourself—the way you ought to be!
It's easy when you have a neck that’s long—and big brown spots, and stumpy horns!
Out for Zoo Break in my Cadillac—the top rolled down, and the seat pushed back!
Herbert the Hippo sittin’ at my side—we’re waving as we’re cruising by!

I tell you it’s —
