Thursday Mornin’, ’bout five A.M.,
I’m awakened from my dream by a distant din!
Well, the wife’s still snorin’, and the kids ain’t up!
It’s the Garbage Truck commin’! I’m arisin’ in a rush!

Golly whoop -whoop! I gotta scoot-scoot! Get all the goop-goop on up the route-route!

’Cause there’s chicken in the kitchen in a bag under the sink!
If it doesn’t get collected -- then it’s gonna start to stink!
But I’m a fuzzy-headed dreamer, just bumpin’ on the floor,
And the truck’s drivin’ by -- when I open up the door!

Golly whoop -whoop! I gotta scoot-scoot! Get all the goop-goop on up the route-route!

Sure was a long, hot day! -- What a tale of mystery in my luncheon pail!
... Stayed up late to play!
-- Now I’m haulin’ this here garbage -- where no garbage has gone before!

Garbage Man, would ya’ pick up all my garbage this mornin’?
"‘Well, I only can, if you got it in a zip-lock bag!’"
But my garbage can -- is just beggin’ for some porridge, pourin’!
And my mind-over-matter’s really tryin’ for Saturday!

Now, I’m a-hoppin’ up the street like a fool on fire!
Never steppin’ in the mud -- I’m a-slippin’ in the mire!
... Garbage truck’s rollin’ clean out o’ sight!
It’s bound to be stinkin’ by Wednesday night!

Now the lady on the left is laughin’ through the light,
’Cause I’m drivin’ in my bathrobe, with the garbage on the right!
If you’re playin’ your guitar ’til quarter past two --
Then tryin’ to get up early, you’ll be singin’ the blues!
