Across the Serengeti
From "Animal Tails and Stories"

Run beside the tall giraffe, across the sweeping miles of grass.
Wildebeest fill all the plain, as far as any eye can see.
Now the rains have finally gone, Westward mountains draw them on.

For countless generations, led on -- by ever-changing seasons --
Across the Serengeti, they follow rain and water!
And make the great migration, to fresh green grass -- and water!

Leaping herds of fleet gazelle, as fluid as the waving grass.
They flee the graceful cheetah's run, where elephants so freely roam!
Too soon the leaves are dried and gone! Survival drives them on and on!

For countless generations led on -- by ever-changing seasons --
Across the Serengeti, they follow rain and water!
And make the great migration, to fresh green grass -- and water!

Every sound is danger warning! Weaker ones that dare to stray --
Will feed the hungry lion cubs -- vultures never far away.
A zebra colt stands newly born! How swiftly he will learn to run!

For countless generations led on -- by ever-changing seasons --
Across the Serengeti, they follow rain and water!
And make the great migration, to fresh green grass -- and water!
